Anastasia Iris Gilbert (born Anastasia Iris Mikaelson) was born on June 5th, 2012 in [New Orleans, Louisiana] to [Madeleine Whitmore] and [Kol Mikaelson] during the tumultuous time of the Originals' return to their ancestral home. Her birth was kept a secret by her mother, [Maddie], who fled [New Orleans] shortly after Annie's birth to shield her from the dangerous Mikaelson family dynamics. She was raised with her mother and her step-father, [Jeremy Gilbert]

She is a direct descendant of the [Original] family. inheriting their dark legacy. Her [mother] a powerful [tribrid], fled New Orleans a few months after her birth to raise her away from the chaos of the Mikaelson family. Annie grew up believing [Jeremy Gilbert], her step-father, was her biological father.
Fallout Between Her Parents[]
Kol and Madeleine's engagement ended a month after Annie was born. Their relationship deteriorated due to Kol's recklessness and Madeleine's fears for their daughter. Maddie fled to Mystic Falls where the [Gilberts] helped raise her baby with her. Years later, she began a relationship with Annie's now step-father, Jeremy who helped raise her alongside his sister [Elena], and they eventually married somewhere around the 2020's.
Life in Mystic Falls[]
Annie was raised in [Mystic Falls], far from the chaos of New Orleans. Maddie wanted to give her a stable and normal life, and the Gilbert's helped with that. She grew up in the [Gilbert Residence], surrounded by love and care. The [Gilbert Family] along with the [Salvatore] brothers, helped raise her, creating a safe and nurturing environment.
Annie grew close to Elena, Damon and Stefan along with other Mystic Falls residents, often spending time at the [Salvatore Boarding House]. Jeremy taught her survival skills, though she didn't fully understand their importance, and [Damon] affectionately called her "Little Wolf", though as she was young and had no idea of her supernatural abilities, she didn't understand this. Jeremy served as a father figure to Annie throughout her childhood, and she believed he was her biological father until the truth was revealed when she turned thirteen, she was told her birth name was Anastasia Mikaelson, not Gilbert and that she was born a tribrid, not a human. She decided for the summer, she would visit New Orleans in hopes to find out the truth about her heritage and family. Despite her decision to go to New Orleans to find her real father, Jeremy's bond with Annie remained strong. Later, Jeremy and Maddie married off-screen, officially making him Annie's step-father as mentioned in [Legacies].
After her journey to New Orleans to confront her biological father and uncover her true heritage, Annie eventually returns to Mystic Falls. She enrolls at the [Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted], seeking her balance her tribrid nature while learning to control her powers. The school provides her with a sense of stability and a chance to reconnect with the Gilbert family, who helped raise her, as well as her Mystic Falls roots.
