Azrael Salvatore is the adopted-daughter of Darius Salvatore. She is the biological daughter of Maredudd ap Tudur, great grandfather of Henry VII.
Azrael is the leader of the Darius Force, Azrael's Platoon, and is the third Hybrid sired by Darius. She was a recurring character in The Originals, and appears in Legacies as a Salvatore Boarding School student.
Azrael is also the third Hybrid ever sired by Darius, putting her at an exceptional level of strength. Alongside being a Hybrid, she is also a siphon witch.
History[]
Birth[]
Azrael was born in Caernarfon Castle, directly into the notoriously noble and royal Tudor family.
Journey to the Americas[]
Born as the legitimate daughter of Maredudd ap Tudur, Azrael wasn't actually claimed by him as his own. Instead, she was thrown aside and sent on a ship to live in the Americas with her maternal relatives. This was because her mother, a member of the Gemini coven, learned she was a siphoner. She then told Azrael's father she was a demon and an abomination. She was outcasted by her coven and was sent out of the continent with her pet, sword instructor, cousin, and unnamed others.
Capture[]
When docking ship in Chalmette, Louisiana, those who had not died or succumb to disease would be killed and slaughtered by an unknown man, who took Azrael, and captured her.
He took her with him for unnamed reasons, although he seemed to have great disdain for her family. He later reveals to her that he's a Vampire, and takes her with him to his home in Steelhorn.
Liberation[]
Once they dock Steelhorn's port, Jordan gives her a knife, and tells her to stab herself with it, if she is to ever attempt to reveal that she is being held captive. Being in Steelhorn for vacation at the time, Darius Salvatore would be in town. While Jordan walks with Azrael through town, Darius realises that she is being held against her will, and decapitates Jordan. Completely horrified from watching her attackers head being chopped off, Azrael is put in shock, although Darius compels it away.
Darius asks Azrael what brought her to Steelhorn, and she explained to him her father's careless attitude towards her and how he never loved her, despising her, and sending her to the Americas because one thing her mother said. Darius states that his father hated him too. Azrael, a mess, falls onto the ground, and begins to sob. Everyone that she loved was dead, and she felt abandoned. She expressed her agony to Darius whilst crying on the ground, and he took pity on her, holding out his hand to her, and stating that she doesn't have to be alone. Azrael grabs his hand, with Darius later adopting her a year later in 1408. Aware that he was a Vampire, Azrael accompanies her father around the world until she falls ill with the bubonic plague.
Norway, 1415[]
Slowly dying from the plague, Darius immediately suggests the idea of giving her his blood. She accepts, and is given a vile of it. She drinks it and is cured. Although she avoided death from the plague with her father's blood, she was completely oblivious to the fact that her tea was laced with arsenic by one of the Vampires accompanying Darius across Europe.
She drinks it, and after nine hours, falls to the floor almost immediately, and starts convulsing on the ground. Darius comes to her aid as quick as he can, and asks what happened to her. Azrael states that she believes she had been poisoned, before dying. Darius attempts to save her with his blood, although it's too late, as she is already dead.
She awakes in transition moments later. Azrael asks Darius how she's still alive, as he then realizes that his blood was still in her system as she died. She realizes that she's in transition as a Werepire, and accepts her fate, feeding on and killing one of the maids aboard the ship, and becoming the third ever Hybrid to exist.
1419, Belgium[]

A mere four years later, Azrael, after tracking Elizabeth Rhodes for nearly half a decade, finds her in a church. She confronts her on if she was the one who killed her, and given the look on her face when she saw her, Azrael knew her response. Elizabeth calls her a "hallucination", which confirms things, as she then runs, jumps off a wooden table, and punches Elizabeth to the floor. As Azrael holds her down, about to rip her heart out of her chest, would stop, asking her why she killed her. She said she did it out of jealousy, and that she never had enough attention from her father. Azrael was a "distraction" to her.
Angered and vengeful, Azrael forces a vile of arsenated water down her throat, and gouges into her chest. She pleads for forgiveness, and Azrael "gives it to her", ripping out her heart, killing her.

Personality[]
Azrael is a fiercely independent woman who was unconstrained by social expectations like gender roles, courtly virtues, class distinctions, and the expectations of her parents and siblings. A tomboy, she's never aspired to be a "proper lady" as her older sister did. Before the series of events that shatter her innocence and make her into who she is, Azrael is full of life, and she makes others smile just by virtue of her spirited indifference to rules.
Once she begins her journey to find a life in the Americas, however, she sees and endures a constant stream of loss and trauma. As she watches her pet, sword instructor, best friend, cousin, and unnamed others on her ship die, she becomes increasingly detached towards murder and death. This is only exacerbated when she is captured by Jordan Cornelius, and is exposed to his fatalistic worldview.
While she is initially horrified when she accidentally stabs the stableboy in Cherrysville, Louisiana's port, by now she is able to kill without remorse and had fell into pure hopelessness, believing she'd never be rescued, nor saved.
When she is found and saved, she is quite hesitant and weary to "Mister Salvatore"'s help, believing that there is some other ulterior motive behind his sincerity. Even though, Darius Salvatore attempted to ease her back into a life of sanity and peace, she couldn't resist the fiening of battle and slaughter. So instead of keeping her from her dormant impulses, he allowed them to be free, and trained her on how to control the urge to murder. As a Werepire, her emotions were only heightened.
Azrael can be a rather cold-blooded and slightly sadistic person at times, especially while confronting and killing those who are on her "kill list". Though she was initially apathetic but satisfied with killing Oliver Montgomery and Cane Carter, she did not attempt to hide her glee over slitting Mason Matthews throat, or the pleasure of seeing his family dying from poisoned wine she gave them. While she certainly possesses compassion and kindness, her time in battle and with her father taught her to be ruthless to those who have wronged her and her family and has shown to be willing to use psychological mind games to worsen her enemies fate before killing them. This is shown when she repeated every word Oliver said to Edward, before killing him in the same exact way that her father did his brother; heart extraction. After she begins stabbing him repeatedly and butchering him, before leaving his corpse inside of a pie, and serving it to his family.
Powers and Abilities[]
Azrael has the typical powers and abilities of a Primordial. As a 600+ year old Hybrid, and Darius' third sired Primordial, Azrael possesses strengths far beyond that of the average Vampire. Versatile and extremely skilled in the art of murder, Azrael refers to death as her canvas. She is a seasoned assassin, capable of killing a dozen people in nearly 5 seconds. Along with the killing, Azrael is also very much capable and skilled in the art of swordsmanship, and archery. Her agility is extremely powerful and her moves in battle are quite hard to overcome, or even beat.
Her supernatural attributes aside, Azrael's greatest asset is her sharp intellect. Her penchant for strategies and forming contingencies way ahead of time, despite the fact that Darius' penchant for strategies and forming contingencies surpasses his, Azrael has outsmarted her father on more than one occasion.
