Cassandra Putnam is a main character, protagonist, current vampire-witch hybrid and a former siphoner on Vampire Diaries. Cassandra is the only daughter of Patrick Johnson and Jane Putnam-Johnson, the niece of Allison Jackson, who was also a siphoner. Cassandra is the maternal cousin of Paige, Jerry and Lisa Jackson, and she is a distant descendant of Sonia Putnam as well. She is portrayed to be very kind, calm and very relax as well, she was called a goody two shoes by her best friends, Bonnie Bennett, Elena Gilbert and Caroline Forbes. She was turned by a unknown vampire from Mystic Falls and she became a vampire-witch hybrid as well.
She is also best friends with her fiance, the panther-shifter, Derek Black, and close friends with Tyler Lockwood and Matt Donovan, and she is distant but good friends with Stefan Salvatore and Jeremy Gilbert as well.
Cassandra is a member of the Putnam Family.
Early Life[]
Cassandra Putnam was born to Patrick and Jane Putnam on March 26, 1992 in Mystic Fall, Virginia. Cassandra met and befriended Derek, Elena, Caroline, Bonnie, Tyler, Jeremy, Vicki and Matt during childhood. Cassandra learned from her mother that she is from a ancient bloodline of siphoners as well, and she started to practice, along with Bonnie as well. Cassandra fell-in-love with the panther-shifter, Derek Black, whom she have known since her childhood and she also lost her virginity to Derek and they started dating as well. Later, Cassandra was turned by a unknown vampire, which turned her into a vampire-witch hybrid as well.

Cassandra often can be seen in her vintage black leather jacket, accompanied by pants of the same color. She wears heavy duty boots suitable for combat as well. Though when the times is called for she can change into other more conventional attire based on the occasion. Like all vampires, she can show her vampire face as well.

Cassandra is describe to be very kind and very overprotective of her childhood friends and her family as well, and Cassandra is shown to dislike sirens very much as well. She enjoy traveling very much and she is also shown to be very calm most of the time, and Cassandra is one of the most benevolent hybrids in Vampire Diaries. She mention that her closest friend is her fiance, Derek Black and she is describe to be very loyal as well.
During her childhood, she was very close with all of her childhood friends and she shared a sibling-like bond with them as well. Cassandra enjoy talking to Caroline, Elena and Bonnie, as well as her fiance, Derek Black and the rest of her friends as well. Cassandra is very loyal to her family, friends and her siphoners as well.

- Super Strength: Vampire-Witch Hybrids are noticeably much stronger than average adult humans and slowly grow stronger with time. They always have the advantage of superior strength in direct combat with a human. Even new vampire-witch hybrids who are still in transition can toss an average size fully grown human across a room with great speed and force. Their other feats include single-handedly lifting grown men high off the ground by the throat and snapping their necks, ripping people apart and ripping out internal organs such as hearts with little to no effort. Their strength is also more powerful than that of werewolves that are not in wolf form. Their strength allows them to jump higher and further than any natural creature. Vampire-Witch Hybrids who feed on humans are stronger than those who feed on animal blood.
- Super Speed: Vampire-Witch Hybrids are much faster than humans and werewolves in human form and can possibly out run a werewolf even in wolf form. Vampire-Witch Hybrids can accelerate their movements to cover short distances in an instant, faster than the human eye can see. When running across long distances, they appear as vibrating blurs of motion. Their reflexes are similarly heightened. Like their strength, their speed increases with age.
- Super Agility: Vampire-Witch Hybrids possess superhuman agility. They have shown that they can move, jump very high, climb, and run incredibly fast without difficulty or exhaustion. Vampire-Witch Hybrids can jump with their super speed too. Vampire-Witch Hybrids that feed on human blood can jump much higher than vampires that feed on animal blood. These abilities increase with age.
- Dream Manipulation: Vampire-Witch Hybrids can control dreams and subconscious. The vampire-witch hybrid can produce and modify dreams, bestow nightmares or lucid dreaming. Other effects of this ability is the distortion of reality and trapped in the dreams. Vampire-Witch Hybrids can manipulate and enter the minds of other vampires and even an Old One if they are weak enough.
- Heightened Senses: Non-Original witch-vampire hybrids possess extremely keen senses of hearing, sight and smell that far exceed those of humans and werewolves.
- Mind Compulsion: Non-Original witch-vampire hybrids have the ability to influence and control thoughts, emotions, and behavior and can alter or erase memories.
- Immortality: A vampire-witch hybrid stops aging once turned. Upon their transformation, vampire-witch hybrids then on become immune to all conventional illness, disease, virus and infection. The only known disease or infection that can kill a vampire is a werewolf bite.
- Accelerated Healing: Non-Original witch-vampire hybrids possess the ability to recover tissue from any form of physical damage to their bodies in seconds, but still feel the pain of a wound before it heals. Vampires can snap their bones back into place after being broken and have been seen to fully recover from gunshots, stab wounds, and torso impalement.
- Siphoning: Siphoners possess the rare ability to absorb nearly all forms of magic from external sources in place of their lack of personal power. As a result of this ability, they are able to detect the magic within other beings as well as unravel the most sophisticated of spells. Siphoning can be used to siphon the magic of enchanted objects as well as the magic from supernatural beings such as other witches, vampires, werewolves, doppelgängers, etc. This also extends to a supernatural being's body fluids, such as the blood of a witch, vampire or doppelgänger, or a werewolf's venom.
- Spell Casting: Siphoners, after having absorbed magic from an external source, have the ability to cast spells like any witch. This allows them to change and control events through the use of incantations and more. However, the amount of power they have absorbed is finite and will eventually need to be replenished by siphoning more magic, though the frequency of which depends on the amount and strength of the magic they absorbed.
- Potion Brewing: The power to brew and concoct potions, remedies, and elixirs that have supernatural properties.
- Pyrokinesis: Non-Original witch-vampire hybrids, after having absorbed magic, possess the ability to create and control fire like any witch. She can manipulate, control and generate fire at will, and she can throw fireballs at her enemies with ease. She can light candles with ease as well, and summon fireballs.
- Pain Infliction: Non-Original witch-vampire hybrids, after having absorbed magic, possess the ability to inflict excruciating migraines like any witch.
