Darius Salvatore (Ancient Greek: Δαριυσ Σαλυατορε; Latin: Xeres/Xeri) is a character who's appeared within The Vampire Diaries, The Originals, and Legacies. He is also apart of the Salvatore Family and Gibson Family respectively. His mother was one of the strongest Witches of all time and his father was the viscious Gibson pack werewolf leader. Darius was born in the summer of 1082, on August 31st
Darius was responsible for the creation of many supernatural groups. The Order, beginning in 1099 as a vision of Darius'. The Darius Force, a sub-grouping of The Order, designed as a fail-safe in the event that The Order is to ever sustain an uprising. Rayna's Army, a group created by his one of his children, of which he took control of after their untimely demise. They later became a sub-group in The Order. Azrael's platoon, Darius' adopted child's squadron for missions and assignments. And likely most notably: The Sisters. A group filled with some of the first turned preeminent vampires. Three of Darius' adopted children in one grouping. Soldiers, turned by Darius during the Polish-Teutonic war, The Sisters are some of the most cunning ones of their species.
When he was 16, he fell in love with Anahita, a very old witch, who posed as a young witch girl who seeked refuge in Italy. She is welcomed by the Salvatore's, and shares a room with Darius. Anahita, with time, and kindness, very much reciprocates Darius' feelings for her. Although pregnant with Darius' child, she didn't wish for him to be punished, nor rot with shame, so she took leave from the Salvatore home, and would come to bear the child on her own, and in secret. She gave their child three names: Lilith, Lena, and Daria after her father.
His second venture of love, was a women who went by the name of Evie. She was drawn to him, and he wished to make her his suitor. Evie would end up carrying a child of his, similarly to Anahita. The child's name remained unknown, although her mother's real name was revealed to be Inadu.
During a sparring match with his instructor, Darius would unintentionally jab him in the chest, causing him to fall to the ground. Darius was caught up in a rage from his mother's treatment to him that day, although once his teacher fell to the floor, his rage subsided, and came worry. His eyes than become black and gold, and he calls out to his parents. They both come out from their home, and realize what had happened. Darius states that it was an accident, and they believe him. Scared and fearful, Darius asks what has happened to him. His father explains to him that he has triggered his Werewolf gene. His mother later works on a spell for a time, which she later uses to afford him the ability to not be subject to the painful transformation. She crafted him a moonlight ring.
Darius was born in 1082 A.D. When he was mortal, he was born in Rome, Italy, before he and his family moved to Norway when he was five, and then later to Sicily when he was around the age of fourteen. He, along with his family remained there until he was seventeen. He would enlist in the First Crusade to fight for the church and to please and pleasure his father. He completes his squireship, and is appointed as a Knight by his acting Lord in days due to his superhuman skill, and is appointed commander of a battalion of twelve "men" (one women; posed as a man).
It is in the Crusade that he makes many friends. One of which: Arson McLaughlin. A powerful werewolf, who, like Darius, was young, of werewolf heritage, and new to the battlefield. He was only 16. Quite young, although a mere one year younger than Darius himself. They bonded amongst one another for their shared similarities, and Arson became Darius' most trusted man, as well as ally.
During the Siege of Jerusalem, Darius and Arson would fight alongside one another, and would be injured severely. Darius attempts to stand, but the crumbling heat from the weather, made it so that every move was more exhausting than the last. Soon, a man marked by his dark hair, eyes, and his mysterious grin, came out from the heat of the sun. Darius believed him to be "god", although he assured him he wasn't before biting into his wrist, and feeding the young warrior his blood. He then snaps Darius' neck, killing him. He awakes in transition moments later, with Darius feeding on the clinging to life, and half-dead corpses of his squadron. He attempted to resist it, but he ending up feeding on one of his best friends: Deserae. These actions complete his transition into a Vampire.
Soon after he saves Deserae by turning her, turning Arson as well.
Early History[]
Darius was born within the walls of an Italian castle in Rome, Italy, in the summer of 1082. His mother was a witch by the name of Alexandria Salvatore, and his father, was a Werewolf, named Francis Gibson. When he was born Darius' parents would relocate to the distant Italian lands of Syracuse, Sicily. Darius and his family would live here peacefully for over a decade, until Darius goes to fight in the First Crusade. While fighting, Darius would be seen as a noble and valiant commander, before he died in the destructive battle. When the men of Europe left Darius and the remaining barely living fighters to die, Darius would stand up slowly and abandon the European Empire. As he walked almost dead and extremely dehydrated he would fall to the floor landing in the sand. As he sat there and looked at the moon that would shine upon him, he thought how "graceful" and "stunning" it was, as its light fell upon his body. He soon after fell into unconsciousness. Darius would then hear snapping which caused him to become awake again. Out came a man marked by his brown hair and dark brown eyes. Despite being over a 100-years old, he appeared to be in his early 20s, somewhere about 20-25. He was considerably tall, very handsome, and had a lean and athletic build. It was Kol Mikaelson. Kol would instantly draw his blood and force it down Darius' throat, before snapping his neck, causing him to go into transition. As he died he would soon awake, and have a sudden urge to feed on human blood as he got up quickly. Kol would tell Darius that he was a Vampire, as his urge to taste blood drawed him to his dying comrades. Kol followed him and witnessed as Darius ferociously slaughtered all 146 people who were in the battlefield. After draining him of his blood, Darius made his best soldier, Arson McLaughlin into a Vampire. As he walked away with the blood of them all on his hands he would feel a tremendous amount of grief, guilt, and sorrow due to his heightened emotions. Kol witnessed this and would be there to comfort him in his time of suffering, telling the young boy that he was unique and special. He was a Ripper. Darius would be taught by Kol the ins-and-outs of being a vampire, and would give him a custom made daylight ring so he could be within the sun. Realizing he didn't need one, he gave it to Anahita. Kol nurtured Darius and helped him not become caught up in the darkness. Days had gone by and Darius would be talking with Kol outside. Then out came Klaus, Elijah, and Rebekah who would tell Kol that they must flee because of their father, the vampire, vampire hunter Mikael. Kol would tell them that they must bring Darius along with them but Niklaus in a hurry to evacuate would dagger Kol as he approached Darius. He would compel Darius to forget about Kol and everything he had done for him. A tear fell from his eyes as Darius forgot everything about Kol. Klaus would further compel him, telling him to go and get far away from where he was and to live his life further. Darius would then ride his horse into the sunset, travelling to the America's. Darius accompanied by a new horse, galloped many miles. He stopped at a early settlement, that Darius would later name Cherrysville. This town was located right outside of what would later become modern-day Louisiana. Darius, scared of Vampirism, and what it had done to him, would forcibly dessicate himself beneath a system of tunnels he had constructed years before in Germany. Fifty years later Darius was awakened by tourists who would find his "dried out" body in a coffin. One of the tourists, who was curious, would touch the mummified-like body of Darius, though they had recently been cut by a throne. Darius would taste, feel, and smell the blood causing him to awaken and kill them all.
1212 A.D.[]
In the 1200s, Darius Salvatore would be imbued with tremendous power and would become The first Preeminent Vampire. This happened because local Werewolves terrorized the villages in Greece. Darius was the only person that they knew who was "favoured by the Gods", so they turned him. Created by seventeen witches, all from different bloodlines, using an advanced form of the Immortality Spell, used by Esther Mikaelson to create the Original Vampires, they would cause Darius Salvatore to become the Original Preeminent Vampire, inadvertently leading to his Sireline.
After 1212[]
After this point Darius would become a nomadic traveller, going place to place, roaming, turning Vampires as he saw fit, and even having a few romantic relationships with the people of the places he visited. Unaware his Hybrid, Preeminent nature allowed him to procreate, these romances would lead to the conception of Darius' Unknown Children.
1436, Europe[]
In 1436, Darius would captured by the early members of the Augustine society. For thirty-three days he was tortured to further medical progress, until his daughter, Azrael Salvatore, viciously slaughters and kills those operating on him.
Mid 1600's-The Late 1600s CE, Roanoke Colony(Modern-Day Dare County, North Carolina[]
During the time period of 1623-1690, Darius became a pirate and amassed himself a great amount of wealth and stature within the supernatural community, earning him a spot in the history books as 'Darius The Ripper', 'Darius The Exalted', and 'Darius Red-in-the-eye. While in his Pirate days hewould meet a man named Sebastian Salvatore. They quickly bonded because of them sharing the last name and they actually were distantly related. The two developed a relationship over time and soon became practically brothers. Darius and Sebastian would go on to terrorize and kill the people of Roanoke which would later become known as modern-day Dare County, North Carolina. It was time for Darius to go

as his people back home were growing weary of him yearning for him to return. Sebastian understood and the two hug symbolizing their friendship and how they would be brothers forever. After learning of the death of Sebastian in 2028 Darius cried and to honour him he hung paintings of Sebastian in his room, making sure to teach his students about the history of Sebastian The Merciless.
Early 16th Century[]
During this point of time, Darius was a Nobleman, but even with this high social status he would fall victim to his urge to consume blood and would frequently kill many people by accident. Also during this time Tracey Forbes would be turned by Darius in 1712 as well as the Vampire known as Evelyn King in 1706.
1707-1713, Great Britain/Mystic Falls, Virginia[]
Throughout this span of time, Darius would spend a majority of it in Great Britain. While there he would accidentally kill a British Royal and would be set to burn at the Stake. He would survive this and leave Britain, going to Mystic Falls Virginia. One day Darius would see dripping blood which drew him to a forest. As more and more of it showed it would draw him closer and closer to the blood. Eventually, he would see a woman bleeding profusely. She did it on purpose. This would trigger Darius and would send him to her. The women would quickly apprehend Darius and would tell him that she smelt that he was a vampire from miles away. He would question this as she further explained that she was a werewolf but not just any plain old werewolf, she was something different. She was a Primordial Werewolf. Her name was Tina Lockwood and she was over 405 years old when she fought Darius, opposed to his much older age at the time of 650+ years old. Before Tina could further injure Darius he would evacuate and run from the area. Also during this time, Henry Stewart would be sired by Darius Salvatore in 1714. And Cassidy Knight would be sired to Darius in 1703. Also in 1705 August and Alexander Salvatore Knight would be born. They are children of Darius.

1715-1716[]
In 1715 Darius' mother (Alexandria Salvatore) would make several attempts on his life that all miserably failed. This would cause Darius to grow great disdain for his mother and would lead to him hiring Leroux Witches to seal his mother away. This seal can only be opened by someone with Leroux Blood or Salvatore Blood and if there is a Bennett and Salvatore hybrid-mix it will be the easiest for them to open the casket.
1717-1799, Athens, Greece[]
During this period Darius would get into a fight with two extremely powerful witches named Heka and Charlotte Petrova. They used almost all of their energy to subdue Darius and after she held him in place. Heka would then stab him with a special item called an Elder Dagger, used to subdue and deal with ancient and elder vampires. This would temporarily neutralize Darius for multiple decades. Charlotte Petrova stated that he was one of her strongest foes. After almost a century of being in a Suspended state of animation, Darius would be awoken by a large group of archeologists and explorers who would pull the dagger out of him. Darius would then rise and kill all of them to satisfy his hunger. After this day he would forever regard Charlotte Petrova in a respectful manner and would not talk badly of her. After he escaped he would gently let down his victims as he then grabbed the dagger and torched the place in flames, keeping it hidden under his estate. He later learned that Desmond Weller was responsible for his awakening, as he compelled one of the explorers to pull the dagger out of him.
1799-1804, Haiti[]
In 1799- the year of 1804 Darius would continuously feed on humans causing many worldwide and infamous massacres in history. Darius was also responsible for a massacre that happened in Haiti that killed over 3000-5000 people. This was because Darius heard the news that Kol was in Haiti at the time but when he couldn't find him he would turn off his humanity and emotions whilst going on a gigantic killing spree. This event would go down in History as the Haiti Massacre.
The Darius Stone[]
After coming home from Haiti Darius would be stopped from entering the french quarter by a group of witches who followed under the teachings of the great witch known as Heka. They used lots of their magic power to stop him for the second time and they would seal him with what would later become known as The Darius Stone. While in it he endured multiple years of torment and agony, stating that it was even harsher than the Phoenix Stone. The reason why Heka and the group of witches sealed him away was that he was Vampire and because Heka foretold a prophecy that stated, that when Darius Salvatore walks the earth and returns from a bloodbath wherever he goes will rot in terror. In order to stop this, they sealed him away. After getting out of the stone he would take a vacation and would go to Venice.
1808-1812, Venice[]
During his time in Venice Darius would be on Vacation in order to clear his mind. While on this trip an Unknown Event would occur that would lead him to turn back on his Emotions and Humanity. Instantly he would realize that he killed 1000s of Europeans in Haiti. After this, he would almost turn his emotions off again but ultimately decided against it and became a Politician the following year. He would also fight in the War of 1812 during this time period running into a 700 year old Rami Mikaelson and slaughtering his crew.
1816-1830, New Orleans, Louisiana and Virginia[]
Darius was a politician during this time, and throughout this century he married the love of his life named Sophia Salter, and joined the Civil War and fought for the USA as a Confederate soldier in order to deal with his urge to feed. Also during this time period the notorious vampire Sophia Salter would be sired by Darius, becoming known as the mistress of death. Additionally, while on a business trip in Mystic Falls, Virginia, Darius would come to sire a young woman named Autumn Brown. She is the maternal ancestor of Becket Brown. During this timespan (In The 1820s) Darius, still wanting to repent for his massacre in Haiti, would fight in Florida against people known as Seminole Warriors. This battle was horrific and intense but Darius and his fleet would eventually come out on top. 108 US troops were killed, 5 wounded, and one died, succumbing to his injuries a day after the fight leaving two people alive which was the commander and Darius himself.
The Augustine Society, 1830-1875[]
In 1830, Darius would be recaptured by the Augustine society, and would be tortured, prodded at, and cut for decades in order to further medical studies and advance the field.
It wouldn't be until four decades later, when he would escape, and kill ever single Augustine society member in the ship carrying him to the town of McKinley, Virginia.

1880-1884, Memphis[]
In 1880 Darius and Rayna Cruz would become involved in a romantic relationship. This lasted for over 3 years despite him being a Vampire and her having a natural desire to murder his species. Ambrose, a devious and rambunctious Vampire who lived at the time, would become quite to issue for him and Rayna, so Rayna hunts him throughout all of Tennessee. In a close-combat encounter Ambrose proceeds to switch out Rayna's primary stake with a Preeminent Stake. He then was about be staked in the chest by Rayna, but Ambrose quickly moves behind Darius, leading to Rayna staking him, and him seemingly "dying". Rayna screams in agony and pain at the death of her "deceased" loved one, and Ambrose escapes, although not before Rayna tells him that he will avenge Darius and will hunt him to his end. She later achieved vengeance on Ambrose though in 1884 she gave birth to Mia Salvatore-Cruz in July. In 1891 Darius, who was "dead" due to the Preeminent Stake still being in his heart, would later be revived by his sister (Skylar Salvatore) who was looking for The Darius Sword and Stone.
Early 1900s-Mid 1900s, Sweden[]
From the time of 1902-1958, Darius was a Werewolf Hunter. There he made many new Vampire as well as witch friends that he could count and can rely on whenever he needed. During his time in Sweden, he killed them for mere sport and annihilated most of Sweden's Werewolf population leaving less than a hundread, compared to its former numbers of nearly four thousand. Also during this time the Vampire that is known as "The Survivor of Monterey", Becket Brown, would be sired by Darius in 1917.
Mid-1900s-Early 2000s, USA[]
In this era, Darius was a Soldier on multiple occasions and thought in World War I and World War II, as well as worked many jobs like being a nurse and working as a police officer. Also during this time, Darius would come to Sire a Vampire named Brooke Harlond as well as Jordan Grant.
2007-2008, Mystic Falls, Virginia[]
Darius would recognize a woman while on a walk. It was Tina Lockwood. In shock, Darius would look at her in awe as the two rekindled their relationship and became friends. Eventually, in 2010 the two would fall in love with each other. They would then get married and because of the fact that Darius was a Preeminent Vampire, it seemed that he could have children. This came as a surprise to Darius because he thought he could not have kids but that seemed to be a perk of being a Preeminent Vampire. in 2011 their son would be born. His name is Darrien Salvatore and he is known as the second tribrid though he technically is the first one. Darrien attends the Salvatore school and is a well-performing student. Darrien would also be accepted into the school council for being a tribrid and works with the "Super Squad".
2017[]
In 2017 Darius was in New Orleans again. He was staying for a while, just to enjoy the view and have some time to himself. While there he would meet Niklaus Mikaelson once again, and the two would converse a bit within a supernatural bar. As they talked the topic of names would come up and Darius would tell him that his name was Darius Salvatore. Niklaus baffled at a name he hadn't heard for over 900 years would stare at Darius in fear. He had heard of his exploits and his piracy in the 1700s as well as his name as Darius the Ripper but didn't realize that it was really him. Darius would question this scared glare on Klaus' face as Klaus then said "It's been centuries now, how have you been", Darius would laugh and tell Niklaus that he had never seen him before in his life. Niklaus would start to explain his outfit and the clothing he had on at the time, when it hit Darius. He saw Niklaus when he was in his 20s. Niklaus would then apologize as he looked into Darius' eyes. As Darius remembered his breif time wioth the Mikaelson's a cluster of emotions flooded through him. He fell to the ground and held his head as he yelled in rage and anger. He would then tell Niklaus to run if he doesn't want to die, causing Niklaus to flee. Darius would then follow close behind him as he dashed towards him. Klaus would then jump into the Mikaelson home where Hope Mikaelson, Hayley Marshall, and others resided. Darius would then fight Niklaus as his rage made it so that the two were on even playing grounds. Darius would then grab a table and break off one of its pillars as he then stabbed it through Klaus' heart. Klaus would drop to the ground as he yelled in pain and agony as he then ripped the pillar of wood out of his body. The screams would alert a dormant Elijah as he then attacked Darius With Klaus. The two would easily defeat him and Elijah would then grab a piece of wood as Klaus then threw/pushed Darius through a wall. As this was happening Elijah would then throw this piece of wood like a spear as it collided with Darius' body and caused him to start "dying". While pinned to the wall with the piece of wood, Darius would look back on his life and everything he accomplished and did. He was quite fond of it. Soon Kol Mikaelson would arrive as he suspected something was up. He would take one look at Darius and immediately knew that it was him. He watched as Darius closed his eyes with a smile on his face, being happy that finally he had been reunited with Kol, the man who was like a brother to him. Kol would push Klaus and Elijah out of the way, as he then grabbed Darius and brought him to his home. There he gave Darius his blood but he just wouldn't wake up. Darius would then awake in the other side as he met Arcadius for the first time. Wondering how he was even dead as he was in fact the Original Preeminent Vampire, Cade reassured him, and told him that his staking was just an excuse for the two of them to finally talk. The two talked as Cade said that he actually quite liked Darius, telling him that he might spare his life from hell. After saying this Darius would awaken. When he awoke Kol and Darius would spend hours catching up and Darius would finally experience true happiness. Something he hadn't experienced in centuries upon centuries.

In 2021, Darius takes up a job as a teacher for The Salvatore boarding school for the young and gifted.

Darius' Sireline[]
Darius' Sire Line is a Figurative Bloodline of Vampires. Some of History's most Formidable and dangerous Vampires fall into this bloodline making it one of the strongest sire lines to exists. Darius Salvatore is The Original Preeminent Vampire. He similarly to The Originals has a sire line.
Appearance[]
Darius has black hair, brown eyes but hazel at times and is of European and Caribbean heritage, being of mixed race. He usually dawns respectful and high-class attire, although occasional will fit an easy and maneuverable t-shirt and black pants.
Personality[]
While he was still a untriggered Werewolf-Witch hybrid, Darius had a complicated life. He was close with his sister Skylar, whom he affectionately called "Sky", and with his siblings Cyrus, Kaitlyn and Sabrina. However, he had a bad relationship with his arrogant and high-handed father, Francis, who was harder on him than any of his siblings. He was a victim of his father's physical and verbal abuse since childhood. He attempted to shape Darius into his complete image, attempting to assure his worthiness of ascension to his pack's throne as alpha, and to make him strong. To do this, Francis often trained with Darius until he couldn't move anymore, and when this happened, he would beat him to a pulp. Darius even admitted to Skylar that Francis frightened him, which made him constantly seek his approval without ever finding it. His mother Alexandria often tried to calm Francis down when he became angry with Darius, but she never tried to stop him from humiliating or from physically/mentally abusing her son. Also as an untriggered werewolf, Darius had the aggressive behavior of one, he often acted on it by training or hunting. His mother rarely got angry with him, although when she did, her punishments were quite severe. These following reasons led him to resent both of his parents, and possibly to be jealous of his other siblings for having their approval. In the director's cut of the backdoor pilot of Legacies, Cyrus pointed out that as an untriggered werewolf, Darius was so full of love and life, and that all he ever wanted was to be adored in return, especially by his parents. The belief he later acquired that no one loved him and that he was doomed to be alone forever was the main factor that changed Darius' personality.

Powers and Abilities[]
Darius possesses all the standard powers and abilities of an Original vampire because of the fact that he's an Original Preeminent Vampire. Darius is an experienced combatant, able to subdue his enemies with ease. As a vampire that's over 949+ years old, this makes Darius one of the oldest vampires shown throughout the series. Although his age allows him to best younger vampires, Original vampires can best him in combat and this was proven when Elijah and Klaus killed and impaled him, causing him to die for the second time.
Other Abilities Include[]
- Super Compulsion: Darius is able to compel Werewolves, Witches and other Vampires.
- Immunity To Certain Magic: Certain forms of magic are rendered useless on Darius and ineffective.
- Tracking: If Darius comes in contact with someone then he can track them down by sensing their presence.
- Super Senses: Darius' 5 senses are all heightened to a considerable degree above average vampires and this means he can know things that happening miles away.
- Poisonous Skin: If he chooses Darius can make his skin poisonous due to him being a Preeminent Vampire. This toxin was designed so that Preeminent Vampires could get revenge if they died and it is fatal to most supernatural beings. The toxin spreads within 1-2 hours and it slowly eats away at your insides until you can no longer move. Then it completely rips you apart. Original Vampires and Primordial Werewolves are Very immune to this, though it just makes them weak. Darius decided that he would not use it against anyone unless he knew he couldn't win, the opponent was stronger than him, or he was on his last bit of life. This was decided in 1934.
- Enhanced Durability: Darius has enhanced durability meaning that he is less susceptible to physical attacks and does not get hurt from them as easy as a regular vampire would. On the contrary though his durability varies based on the time. For instance in 1883 he was staked in the heart by Rayna Cruz and is killed in the process. Upon being resurrected by his sister (Skylar) the two spar a bit and catch up. While this happens he appears to take multiple stakes to his body and is generally unaffected.
- Reproducing:Because Darius is a Preeminent Vampire he can reproduce and create offspring.
- Torture Resistance/Resistance To Torture: over the centuries Darius has developed a sort of immunity to the affects of torture.
Darius is also very well versed in Swordsmanship, hand-to-hand combat, acrobatic skill, sprinting and many more. Prior to becoming a Vampire he had the abilities of a Werewolf through his father. Though Darius did have the potential of being a witch and having witch abilities.
Weaknesses[]
Darius has all of the normal weaknesses of a Preeminent Vampire.
- Wood: Darius (During the time of 1650-1730) was much more easily harmed by wood and wood-based items
- Elder Daggers: Darius can be neutralised using an Elder Dagger as was shown when he was subdued for almost a century in 1714.
- Blood: Darius suffers from the most extreme case of hunger to ever been seen as a vampire, killing complete towns of people to satisfy his hunger on multiple occasions. This can also be seen as a huge weakness as Blood can make him unhinge.
- The Preeminent Stakes: If used on him Darius will have about 1 minute to live and will burst into blue and green flames, ending his life (though he can self-resurrect)

This would cause her to stab Darius with a Preeminent Dagger to get back at him, though due to his werewolf side it meant that the Preeminent Dagger was ineffective at subduing him, and it only lead to him feeling tremendous pain. After this Skylar and Darius' relationship got was mended.

Sabrina is Darius' sister and the two have had a quite good relationship throughout the centuries. Though after he neutralized Skylar for decades she would be angry at him for doing this (though she soon come to terms with it).

Cyrus and Darius were quite oblivious to each other as the both of them had different fathers. Some point in the 1600s Cyrus and Darius would grow a good bond and in the 1700s the two would seal their mother alongside each other. After being afflicted with the curse that plagued the minds of those who murdered one of the five, Cyrus would experience severe mental trauma. Once he realized this Darius would use a special dagger on him and waited a century for the curse to wear off.

This caused him to rip upon several women though they would be brought back as Vampires. One of such women was Emily Forbes.

At an unknown Period of time Darius and Sam would come to realize that they were related and shared a distant relation to each other. Darius (Persian: داریوش) is a male given name. Etymologically it is the English transliteration of the Persian name Dariush, meaning "he possesses" or "rich and kingly". The name also has another meaning: "He who holds firm to good."
