Seraph Blades are the weapons that are used primarily by Werewolf Hunters. In order to use the blades you must call upon the name of a Salvatore, Gibson, or Cruz, in which the name will become magically activated and will be ready for usage.
Usage[]
Seraph blades are activated when their name is called. It is said to be stronger the louder the blades name is called. Seraph blades are an efficient way to kill Werewolves and Vampires (primarily Vampires). When used against a Human, the seraph blade has been observed to be vastly overpowering, sometimes even causing the human to burst into flames upon the first blow.
The more the wielder is hurt the stronger the blade will get and if the user is near-death than they will be given a surge of power coming straight from the blade. This may change their personality depending on the nature of the blade, although it will generally heal the user and even the grizzliest of one's wounds.
Requirements[]
- Bloodline: You must belong to The Salvatore, Gibson, or Cruz Family Bloodline. This does not mean that you must have the same surname or even parents from the line. If one can trace back their lineage to at least 4 - 7 ancestors from the required bloodlines, than they can use a blade.
Known Wielders[]
- Tatiana: Tatiana started killing Werewolves after she witnessed a village being teared apart by them. She kills all of these Werewolves and this starts her disdain for the species. Tatiana wields the blade by the name of her sister; Kateona.
- Darius Salvatore: Darius began to hunt werewolves starting with the werewolf Seth, who burned his cousin alive in front of hundreds. He would also be given power to deal with Werewolves easier via magic. Darius wields the sword that carries his name.
- August Salvatore-Knight: August started hunting Werewolves after she was killed by one and her life as an mortal was ended abruptly. In an act of revenge she goes on to kill hundreds of Werewolves.
- Mia Salvatore-Cruz: Mia is almost mauled by a Werewolf and this leads to her deciding to "kill them on the side". She does this so that she can protect others from the same fate that she was almost subjected to.
- Katie: When Katie was a little girl she walked through the woods in order to return to her home with her best friends. While walking they heard growling and other unpleasant beast-like sounds that would've freaked Katie out if she wasn't with her friends. When the two were about to leave the forest Katie's friends were completely torn apart by Werewolves in front of her eyes. Feeling defenseless she almost ran, though she stood her ground and tried to fight the Werewolf. This was to no avail until Katie yelled the name of her father (Nicholas). This would cause a Seraph Blade to form and appear within her hand. With she would slay the beast, though where she succeeded in killing the wolf, she failed in saving her friends. Still clinging onto their last bits of life, Katie's friends to her to never forget them and she didn't. Katie from that day on would kill Werewolves across the globe and would gain fierce notoriety.
Appearance[]
Regular Appearance[]
Many runes are plastered upon the blade, representing the name of the person who the sword refers to. These can vary sword-to-sword although they generally look relatively the same. Also the shape of the blade all differentiate from one another and certain blades may have an aura laced upon them when called upon. For instance Mia's blade (known as "Rayna") glows a angelic white when the wielder summons and calls upon its power.
When Deactivated[]
When deactivated, the seraph blades are dull tubes; however once activated, the blade springs to life. They vary in length, from a small ones like daggers, to long ones like swords. The blades have runes cut into the sword that glow beneath the blade's surface.
Known Blades[]
- Darius - An infernal blade summoned into reality from the literal depths of Hell. It was created by using the blood of Darius' enemies and extracting the Iron from it. The iron soon melted in the heat of the underworld, although it would turn into an unnamed extremely durable material. Darius (the blade) is easily capable of extinguishing Werewolves and it is known as one of the, if not the powerfullest seraph blade.
- Rayna - A blade constructed by an unnamed blacksmith and later used by the daughter of Rayna Cruz.
- Kateona - Known as the blade power, those who wield it have their power increased by several folds (depending on who they are).
- Nicholas - This specific Seraph Blade is the longest and most strong. It is wielded by Katie.
- Beatrix - The sleekest blade that glows red and golden when called upon. It is easily the fastest blade of them all. Beatrix (the blade) represents Beatrix (the persons) abilities most accurately.
Fake Seraph Blades[]
The "Fake Seraph Blades" are blades created by people who do not fall under the necessary bloodline and who aren't blacksmiths who make the blades for the wielder. They are fake because they are usually powerless and are only used to create fear into Werewolves who see it. They can sometimes appear and look like replicas although sometimes they can seem indistinguishable from the real (depending on the scale of the creator).
User Reanimation[]
If The User is killed while the blade is in their hand (or the blade was in their hand while fighting), then they will be given life in exchange for the blades power, causing the blade to combust and explode. Before the 18th Century this was merely written within books, being cited as a fruitful myth. When Katie was killed and then was revived by her blade.
Deactivation[]
When the blade is touched by someone not belonging to the bloodline, it will sting them and burn them. It will also change its appearance. If the wielder of the blade was slain then the blade will be able to be touched by someone not belonging to the necessary bloodline for a mere 10 minutes.
Name[]
Seraph: An angelic being, regarded in traditional Christian angelology as belonging to the highest order of the ninefold celestial hierarchy, associated with light, ardor, and purity.
Blade: A knife, sword, saw, or other tool or weapon.

- Originally it was thought that the blade named after Darius was the one named after Kateona.
- Seraph Blades are the main blades used by Werewolf Hunters.
