Early Life[]
Nothing much is known about Margaret only that she was born a noblewoman in the early-to mid 10th century in Mystic Falls to Lord Benjamin and an unknown mother. It is unclear who turned her as it is debatable whether Klaus or Rebekah seeing as she was close to them both, though she did not know of their true nature, Klaus in particular, she had no idea he was hunting Madeleine's family.
She is responsible for the turning of Madeleine Westwood, as after her sister died, her parents hired Margaret to turn her. They believed this was the only option as Maddie wasn't strong enough to protect herself against the supernatural forces and Klaus' allies that killed her sister. They knew they were the next target.
So, a week after Madeleine's 20th birthday, Margaret turned Maddie into a vampire, making her the first female witch-vampire hybrid at her time. Turning her was the right choice as Maddie managed to escape the problems that arose with Klaus and her family. Her parents both succumbed to Klaus and his allies, ultimately getting killed, leaving Madeleine to run from them for as long as she could.
Though, for Margaret, she vowed she would protect their daughter no matter what. Maddie didn't agree to this, so she and Margaret split and went their seperate ways about 5-10 years after her parents died. Seeing as she was a hybrid and honed her abilities, she didn't see the need for Margaret protecting her anymore.
In the 1920's, Margaret was accidentally killed by Klaus in Chicago, Illinois, after Klaus was meant to stake another vampire, she took the hit instead, thus ending her journey as a vampire.
