History[]
Merpeople were created by the Creators as the protectors of the ocean, thousands of years ago.
Attack of men[]
During the 19th century, a mermaid had found her way on land and met a male human who was a sailor in the town of the world's mermaid capital. Inevitably, the sailor and mermaid fell in love and had a child, but when the town's people found out about the mermaid, they had the mermaid burned alive, which killed their unborn child in the process, and when the sailor tried and failed to save the mermaid he loved, they beheaded him.
Modern Day Times[]
Since learning the death of one of their own, the rest of the mermaids and mermen went into hiding, thus keeping the whereabouts of their tribes secret.
Over two centuries later, the mermaid tribes still remain unknown to humanity. Though some mermaids have grown too close to humans and had left their tribes to start new lives on land. These mermaids have had children with humans, in which these children are part human and part mermaid.
However some of the merpeople were devoured by Malivore. Four mermaid sisters were sent to the Salvatore Boarding School to get a urn in exchange that Malivore would free their mother. Once they entered the school they began to use their siren song to control all the men, and boys except for Alaric who was out of town, Samara was on her hunts, and Langdon who is immune to their song. After imprisoning the women, and girls they began to search for urn. Lizzie attempting to stop them only for the eldest sister to her magic to turn Lizzie into a mermaid. Josie and Hope with Langdon's help after telling them about the mermaid invasion took down the mermaids, break the song on all the males, free the women, and girls, and turn Lizzie back to normal.
In the Coast of Virginia Samara dealt with a mermaid pod, but got turned into a mermaid by their leader. she later return to her real self thanks to Vixen.
