Samuel Wilson was a major recurring character and protagonist through the season 1 to 4 of Vampire Diaries. Sam was a shapeshifter and the husband of Addison Wilson, the older brother of Mitchell Wilson, the father of Seth Wilson, the brother-in-law of Jade Wilson, and the uncle of Ally Wilson. Sam was a member of the Town Council, alongside many of his friends, such as Richard Lockwood and Grayson Gilbert. Sam and his wife Addison was killed by Niklaus Mikaelson in revenge against Seth for helping his best friend Tyler Lockwood in freeing the hybrids. Sam and Addison watched over their family, including their son before finding peace.

Early History[]
Samuel Wilson was born to two unnamed parents in the early 1970s as their firstborn son and eldest child. He had a younger brother named Mitchell, who would idolize Sam during his entire childhood, and the two brothers remained close for their entire life together. Sam and Mitchell grew up alongside many members of the Founding Families, Richard and Mason Lockwood, Grayson and John Gilbert, Bill Forbes, and others like Miranda and Jenna Sommers, Abby Bennett, and Elizabeth Forbes. Sam was very close friends with Richard, Grayson, Miranda, and Elizabeth. Sam and Mitchell learned from their parents that they were shapeshifters, which they had hidden from their childhood friends.
