Spell of the Moon is the fourth part of Chapter One and fourth part overall of H2O
Plot[]
25th of November, 2031 arrived in Southbank; Cleo Sertori was in the middle of a vlog when she heard a strange sound outside. Cleo noticed a pair of women just outside her home, however, when one of them seemed to spot her the other woman ran away while one looking at Cleo remained. Cleo looked away before looking back to see the woman now just outside her window. She introduced herself as Alicia Watsford and told her that spying wasn't nice before trying to compel her, but Cleo was immune to it due to being a Mermaid. Alicia darted away as Cleo ended her vlog. Emma Gilbert and Rikki Chadwick were enjoying respective family time at their respective homes when Rikki decided to call Emma to tell her to come to JuiceNet early the next day.
The next day at JuiceNet; Emma was in the middle of serving a couple of tables when Zane Bennett arrived without his usual posse. He ordered his usual cappuccino and breakfast order when Rikki tripped over her own feet and her magic manifested without her prompt and caused her to heat up the milk before Emma added it to the cappuccino. Emma took it over and when she turned around she sneezed which caused an accidental release magic that caused the unused eggs to hatch some chickens. Emma was confused until they realise that the full moon was coming in a couple of days and there power was going haywire because of it. At her home; Cleo kept causing the windows to fog up while she was taking bath causing her parents to become annoyed at the use of her power. Kim and Samantha were confused by the recent events. Louise Chatham arrived at Cleo's House and rushed up stairs in order to find out what was going on. Louise burst into the bathroom and found that Cleo was acting strangely and deduced that she was under the effects of the Full Moon in which she dubbed "Moon Spells".
Louise talked in private with Donald and Bev about Cleo's odd behaviour and told her that it was caused by the Full Moon and that the only way for them to become immune to effects of the moon and the ability to quick dry out of the water when exiting was by creating the Mermaid Moon Amulet through the Mermaid Moon Amulet Creation Spell. They ask when she needs and she told them a vial of saltwater, a vial of freshwater, a naturally occurring pearl, and the blood of a sea turtle. Donald set out to get the items while Louise told them that she'll search the ocean for a pearl while Bev decided to remain home.
Zane proceeded to go dive into the ocean in full scuba gear when while he was looking for some Geoducks when a sudden gush of water shot past him causing him to be knocked about - in his shock - he caught a glimpse of a tail. When he was able to recover - he spotted a figure out in the distance - he could tell it was a fish because of its long arms, and hair - he began to freak to the point that water stirred in front him making him think that the creatures was causing - it made a break for it to the surface and ran off screaming that was a "sea monster" in the water, but no one was taking him seriously except Emma who know that Rikki was underwater currently. Considering that Rikki was often rebellious - she assumed that it was because of Rikki's mother returning to town. Patricia Gilbert was sitting at a table in the cafe drinking an espresso while eating some lamington squares. Emma decided to break the ice and talk to her, but Patricia responded to her coldly and that years of ignoring her want "just go away". Emma left her to sit by herself before going over to attend to Terry Chadwick and Carly Morgan when Alicia Watsford entered the cafe and ordered the special.
Alicia attempted to compel some answers from Emma, but Emma remained unaffected by the compulsion and told her that Southbank was just an ordinary town with an ordinary history. Zane ran into the cafe and announced that he was attacked by sea monster while diving, but Terry told him that he was probably just a shark getting to close and told him that he'll investigate it. However, Zane remained adamant and vowed to prove everyone right. Patricia gave a concerned look and went off to find out what was happening at the beach. Rikki was swimming haphazardly through ocean and proceeded to capsize a ship contain kilos of illegal substances after swimming into it. Rikki was acting more than rebellious, but rather more impulsively and reckless with actions as she used the Heating Spell to heat up the fuel in its tank nearly causing it to explode before stopping herself. She proceed to use her speed swimming to help the crew of the ship to safety before swimming off. She noticed Zane on the docks and realised he would see her before deciding to return to another way.
Patricia took her aside and told her that Zane saw her in the ocean and now thinks there's a monster in water. Rikki told her that it was better than him knowing the truth, but she shouted at her that Zane was determined to prove the existence of the so-called monster in the sea. Rikki told her that she and Emma told her about them being a Merfolk after Neil went to get on a business trip - in order to get close to her again, but Rikki told her not to try to make give up her life. Patricia noticed Cleo with Lewis as they were bonding and stormed over to her, and asked Lewis to give them a minute. She told Cleo that she needed to have Lewis forget about her as a Merfolk and to end the relationship as it would drag him into something he shouldn't be apart of, but Cleo told her to mind her own business and that she'll live wants to be able to have normal life as well, but Patricia grabbed to which Alicia told her to let go. Alicia tried to compel her, but Patricia noted that while she was away she managed to get herself some vervain and sprayed Alicia with it. Patricia ran off with Cleo stopping Alicia from going after her and hurling into the nearby shack. Lewis told her to go home while she can and Bev and Donald rushed their daughter home as Louise arrived and told him to take five. Louise's skin proceeded to dampen as she proceeded to use her magic to force Alicia away from the beach. However, Alicia ran away before matters get worse.
On the 27th of November 2031'; Zane proceeded to pay few people for the use of their fishing trawler and set sale to the Pacific Ocean; as the Full Moon neared the worse the girls had become. Cleo was in room with a door and bloodied water facing the door as was Emma in her house, and Rikki. Their parents thanked for the spell that she used to bound them to their rooms as she set off to the Vampire. Louise proceeded to track the Vampire to warehouse and proceeded to knock her out. Louise brought her into own house tied to a chair. Louise told her that it was okay and that she invited in as Alicia ripped herself from her bounds. Louise told her that she was heading to ocean to stop Zane from potentially exposing Merfolks to the public while leaving Lewis in charging of Alicia.
Louise managed to arrive in time as she noted that Zane was above Pacific Ocean Clansmen territory and that the recent surge of powers was causing the Merfolk to become stir crazy. Louise proceeded to use some sort of spell to prevent the ship from moving as well as the fishing equipment. She followed up with another spell to knock out everyone on board before grabbing Zane. She brought Zane to her house and told him not to go looking for sea monsters. Alicia tried to make a break for it, but she couldn't get past the threshold; Louise told her that she used her Vampire blood and some sea water along with some Vervain to cast a Reverse Threshold Spell which meant that Alicia cannot leave her home until she's been asked to leave. Louise told her that she wasn't free to leave before demanding that she compel Zane forget about seeing any Sea monsters and to go home and wait for the next day. Alicia complied, but Zane showed resistance to the compulsion before grabbing the steak knife from the table in front of him and stabbing Alicia in the neck with it before going after Louise.
Louise was able to subdue to Zane and placed him in a spare bedroom before telling Alicia that she was free to leave, but she cannot stay in Southbank. Alicia told her that she doesn't intend to return before darting away. Louise on the night of the full moon was able to complete the Merfolk Moon Amulet Creation Spell and handed girls their Merfolk Moon Rings which allowed them control their transformations, powers, and makes them immune to effects of the moon - She also spelled them so that only the girls could remove the rings.
Zane had awoken in his cell to the sight of Alicia looking at him and she proceeded to ask him how he resisted her compulsion to which Zane told him that he didn't know. Alicia told him that she had an idea, and when Zane asked how for her idea - she stated to him that he must be a Witch. Zane shocked at her revelation asked for more information. Alicia proceeded to break him out the house and escaped into the night.
